EUR 72m debt refinancing
In December 2021, Clairfield Belgium closed the refinancing of Brouwerij Martens’ debt portfolio for an amount of 72m EUR. This transaction will enable the brewery group to continue its ambitious growth trajectory and execute its long-term financial strategic plan.
Founded in 1758, Brouwerij Martens (www.martens.be) is a family-owned brewery that has been at the top of the Belgian brewing industry for eight consecutive generations and is today managed by the Martens family. The brewery is engaged in the development, production, distribution and sale of private label beer as well as their own beer brands.
In 2018 Clairfield Belgium already acted as debt advisor to the family shareholders in the share buyback transaction from a non family shareholder and supported them in obtaining the required banking facilities. This new transaction underlines our long-term relationship with the brewery and we look forward to a continued collaboration in the future.

Clairfield International acted as exclusive financial advisor to the shareholders of PTL on the sale to Aurelius Group.
advised on a EUR 24.7m equity raise
Belgian Mobile ID recently closed a EUR 24.7m fundraising with six of its existing shareholders and FPIM-SPFI, as a new shareholder owned by the Belgian government who acquires 20% of the shares through its EUR 14.5m investment. Clairfield Belgium has successfully advised Belgian Mobile ID in the fundraising and the selection of the new shareholder. Belgian Mobile ID offers digital identification, authentication and signing services through its mobile application itsme®. The proceeds will be used to further nurture growth in both domestic and international markets. It was recently announced that itsme® serves as authentication means to log in to the CovidSafe.be application launched by the Belgian government, allowing Belgians to consult their Covid certificate.

Blanchon group is recognized for its international expertise, advanced industrial tools and high qualitative supply chain. Blanchon Group is a portfolio company of the French private equity house Abénex that accompanied the transaction process.
Debal Finance is a Belgian family-owned company generating EUR 15m turnover and better known under the high-quality brand ‘Ciranova’. The company specializes in protective and decorative coatings for parquet and wood floorings for more than 90 years, dedicated to professional and industrial customers. Through the acquisition of Ciranova, Blanchon Group underpins its ambition to become a European leader in protection, maintenance, renovation and decoration of wood and vinyl flooring and surfaces. This acquisition allows Blanchon Group to strengthen their R&D capabilities and increase international presence. The acquisition will enable Blanchon Group to achieve nearly EUR 100m revenue in 2021, and, therefore, become a leading European player in this niche market.
